When We Dream, We Can Fly
I tied my dreams to my shoulders like wings
with My joys and my passions as the knotted strings.
To give my hopes the chance to fly,
To test the limits of the cloud-flocked sky.
Though a risk, Ill take the leap
for success or failure is mine to keep.
Do you ever have dreams you can fly? Maybe your dreams are trying to tell you something. You are searching for a new perspective, or maybe you wish to feel more power and control in your life. You want freedom or escape…
What would you do if the sky were the only limits? What job would you have? What art would you make? Where might you want to live or to visit? Life does give us limitations, often out of our control: health problems, obligations, trauma we must work to overcome. Sometimes we give ourselves limitations!
We say, “I am too old, I don’t have a degree, I am male, or I am female. I am not talented enough.”
We say “I can’t.”
Question these things you say to yourself! Explore the dreams you had when you were young and saw fewer limitations. Set a vision, and make goals.
This painting is a reminder to me: to let myself soar, to stop letting things that are in my control limit me, and to keep dreaming.
Thanks to everyone who supports my efforts!
